GTDInbox Plus and GTDInbox Free Updated (3.0.10)

Just a quick note, GTDInbox Plus and GTDInbox Free have been updated to 3.0.10, which I believe (hope!) fix all the current problems with the GTDInbox buttons going missing.

I’ll be on hand tomorrow to deal with any problems that remain. Our new error reporting system (which I’m personally very proud off!) is working wonders for helping us diagnose and fix Gmail breakages a lot faster. I think we can still improve even more, but we’re really getting there.

In the meantime, Free users you can get the latest release from http://www.gtdinbox.com/gettingstarted.htm, and Plus users from your account pages (Installation Instructions to be precise).

PS A big shout out to Michael Bond who’s gone beyond the call of duty to help us get the issues fixed. Thanks Michael!

    My buttons aren’t back…
I’m currently using Firefox 3.6 and GTDInbox free 3.0a26 that I’ve just updated today.
I have restarted my browser and then my computer to see if something has changed, but no.
    Thanks for your advice!
    CB.

      Hi Cyrille,

So you’re on 3.0.10? Can you drop me an email (andym@gtdinbox.com) and we’ll have a quick discussion. It would be great to know if you’re using Linux or not?

      Andy

My box on the left side has dissapeared. HELP… how to get my overview back?

    Hi Andy,
When I wrote my first message here, I had just followed the link above (gettingstarted.htm) and the 3.0a26 version was available only (that seemed odd to me as I expected to find 3.0.10).
I tried again a few minutes ago and, again, I found the same version. Then I thought it would be interresting to hit the “refresh” button… the 3.0.10 magically appeared ;-)
    Now it works, thanks!

Big thanks for getting 3.0.10 out the door so quick – my buttons are back!

It seem that “finished” is no longer a status button – has this been intentionally removed? If so, how do I change status on a message from “Waiting On” to “Finished”.

I watched the GTDInboxPlus video and see that you are working on something like the Archive button becoming a bit of a dropdown-type menu. Looks great.

If it was not removed is there a fix planned (3.0.11)?

      • peyton says:

        Jason,

In GTDInbox Plus Beta we incorporated the Finished button into the Archive button so you can finish and archive with a single click. As you noticed, the GTDInbox Plus Beta Archive button incorporates some drop-down options. Unfortunately, this change also removed the Finish button from the horizontal line of action status buttons in GTDInbox Free.

We are going to have to rewrite some code to bring this back. Meanwhile, you can improvise by using the Labels drop-down that is built into GMail, or by applying the label with the GMail keyboard shortcut L, which will open the Labels drop-down without your having to mouse up to it.

        I apologize for the inconvenience.

I just updated to 3.0.11 and gtdinbox is completely non-functional… not even a side bar. I uninstalled and re-installed…nothing. Firefox 3.5.7

      Craig,

Could you please send us an email at support at gtdinbox dot com?

      Best,

      Peyton

Strangely, it suddenly began working with no action on my part. I am using WIndows XP. I have a Vista box running Firefox 3.5.7, but so far have had no issues there.

This may be unrelated, but the day it started working, Firefox displayed the mysterious Metastream plugin error to many people: http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=en-US&comments_parentId=571763&comments_offset=40&comments_per_page=20&forumId=1

(I chose not to disable the plugin at the time, fearing the unexplained warning was malicious)

I’m having exactly the same problem. No Sidebar, no buttons, nothing. Oddly enough, I had version 3.0.11 working fine till yesterday, and this morning, when I started firefox (3.5.7 on OSX 10.6) – there was nothing. I have not upgraded my browser, and yes, I uninstalled it, restarted firefox, installed it, restarted firefox, but still there was nothing.

Hope you can fix this. Many thanks for an excellent product, otherwise.

  6. Susan Penter says:

3.0.11 is the slickest it has ever been bravo, my only worry is the lack of finished, I’m worried things could slip through the net but I’ll reserve judgement and see how I do without it. Once again a great job.

    • peyton says:

      Hi Susan,

We incorporated Finished into the Archive button in GTDInbox Plus Beta, but we forgot about how this would appear in GTDInbox Free. As I posted in reply to Jason, we are going to have to fix this. Meanwhile, people can use the GMail keyboard command L to open the Labels drop-down and apply the Finished label manually.

  7. Robert Romberger says:

Has “Archive” taken the place of the “Finished” button (like it used to be)? If so, great! I hated the two or three clicks to set the status to finished, archive the message, and then move to the next message. That was WMT (wasting my time) instead of GTD (getting things done). Now to get the update…

    • Robert Romberger says:

Sad face on right now. Archive does not set the status to finish and does not remove any previous status either. If nothing else, this needs fixed ASAP. :(

      • peyton says:

        Robert,

We incorporated Finished into a more powerful Archive button in GTDInbox Plus Beta, but we didn’t foresee the problem this would create in GTDInbox Free.

We will fix this and apologize for the oversight.

  8. peyton says:

Thanks Sujai. I got your email. We should have a fix within a few days.

    Best,

    Peyton
